Hundreds of people are sharing an online tongue-in-cheek list of 26 reasons why you should never, ever visit Mahone Bay. The reverse marketing campaign aims to draw tourists.

Mahone Bay is a bay located on the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, Canada along the eastern end of Lunenburg County. Opening south directly onto the Atlantic, its eastern shore is formed by the Aspotogan Peninsula and its western shore is formed by the First Peninsula (of Lunenburg). The Chester Peninsula juts several kilometres into Mahone Bay at roughly its midpoint. Mahone Bay in Nova Scotia is where a British warship trapped the pirate ship known as Young Teaser. Instead of capturing it and hanging the crew, a torch was thrown into the ship's powder magazine and it exploded, killing the entire crew. Since the 19th century people report seeing the ship burning in the Bay. There are reports of men on fire running and screaming on the deck. Boats have been dispatched out to help, but they watch the apparition disappear before they can reach it every time.
