Puthandu is the traditional New Year day celebrated in Tamil Nadu. Tamil New Years day falls in the month of April on 13th or 14th every year. This year it's being celebrated on 14th April. The day is the first day of the Tamil calendar month "Chithirai". In Kerala state of India, they celebrate this day as "Vishu".
