Teaching theme is vital. It's the heart of the story. Finding it isn't always easy, and kids need direct instruction. Recreate this ELA anchor chart idea! Use large paper and gather your kids around. Make it ahead of time, but you can leave the "Possible Theme Statements" blank. Try letting your students come up with examples. Fill it in as they give you ideas!
