It was a custom build that we designed ourselves. The steel rods, newels, hand rails, and boards were purchased from a local lumber company. After we took the half wall down and re-routed the electricity. My nephew helped us patch the drywall where the old wall was and helped us install the railing. Before starting this diy three years ago there were a lot of unknowns. We had never taken on a project like this before. So many questions and searching for the proper way to go about it. •How do we even start to take the wall down? •Once the wall is down, how and where do we re-route the electricity that was in the wall? •What type of wood should we use? (We went with Poplar Wood) •How to secure the posts to the floor? •How to run the iron rods through the posts? (so thankful for a neighbor that had a drill press we could use) •What color of stain should we use? ( we used Minwax Early American) It took us a while to make it all come together. It was a labor of love for sure. But it was so worth it all in the end! If you need more information on how we did ours. I offer online video consultations where we can discuss this project or whatever home decor questions you may have. If you'd like the links to my olive tree, chairs, and rug in the reel comment "link," and I'll send those to you. .................... #railings #ironrailing #horizontalrailing #diydesign #diyhomeprojects #diyhome #webuiltthis #custombuild #hometakestime #bhghome #moderndesign #myhomeview #myhometrend #myhomecrush #buildergradeupgrade | Rachel
