Video overviews reflect current feature functionality in Studio; they are updated based on workflow changes, not on minor or non-functional interface enhancements. Depending on your institution's Canvas theme, the interface may display differently than shown in this video, but the functionality is the same.

Using Studio Video Script

In this video, you will learn about using Studio media. While playing Studio media in a course, you can control many aspects of the experience. To play the media, click the Play button. To pause the media, click the Pause button. To set the playback volume for the media, click and drag your cursor across the volume buttons. For optimal results, you may also have to adjust the volume for your computer output. To adjust the playback speed, hover over the speed playback number and click a speed option. To see if a media file includes captions, hover over the Captions icon. By default, captions are set to off. You can enable captions by clicking the language link.

If the media includes comments, you can view inline comments as part of the media by clicking the Comments icon. When enabled, the dots in the timeline show any comments, which can be viewed directly in the Comments tab. Comments are arranged chronologically by time and are highlighted as they appear in the media timeline. Comments can also include replies from other users. If the media includes comments, you can also view the details of the media file. The Details tab shows the title, description, profile picture, name of the user who uploaded the media, date the media was uploaded, and any associated tags.

If the option is available, you can view the video in full screen by clicking the Full Screen icon. If the download option is available, you can download the media by clicking the Download icon. While playing the media, you may also have the ability to add comments directly to a media file to create commentary or ask questions. To create a comment in the timeline, enter your comment in the Comment field. When you start typing, the media will pause automatically. The Comment button displays the time that your comment will appear in the media. When you are ready to submit, click the Comment button. If you want to leave a reply to an existing comment, locate the comment and click the Reply link. Enter your reply in the Reply field. Then click the Save button. To edit your comment, click the Edit icon. To delete your comment, click the Delete icon then click the confirm delete link.
