Bowls to trim, angles on the outside and deep foot-rings to carve into. This is my current wheel set-up, trestles on the right to slot incoming pots and to store those waiting their turn to be turned. In reality, had I been a potter in a world where social media didn’t exist, I’d find a cosy corner and wall to push my wheel against, shelves in front of me, so I can store pots and tools in my workspace more easily within reach. Instead, the wheel is positioned almost in the middle of the works... Today’s wheel setup, throwing batts cleaned and stacked, reclaim bucket tucked underneath, (awaiting the trimmings in the wheel-tray so they don’t get covered in water), and the radio on. Plates today, filler pots to make firing other vessels I’m creating easier, (less wasteful), thrown as simple flat disks from superbly soft clay, thick, unrefined, with practically all the work being in the turning stage. They’ll be similar to those that were on show and for sale at @make_hauserwirth recen...
