34K views · 1.2K reactions | Hi friends, I am in love with this snowman! He turned out so great, he’s super cute and budget friendly. I hope this inspires you to create one of your... | By Create with D&L | Hi everyone it's Lynn Create with D and L and today we're making a snowman so I just took a circular that was like a little lazy Susan or something that I used to trace a circle out onto this piece of cardboard and then I did give that one coat of white acrylic paint and now I'm using the ruler just to make one straight line down the center and I'm going to add a piece of rope to it and this is I think this is clothesline rope and I made that one straight so that I know every other piece that I put on there will be straight. And you could wrap your rope around this circle. But I didn't think I had enough to do that. So I did it this way. It would probably quicker to do the other way. Uh but like I said if you don't have enough rope this is the best way to go. And I just left a little bit of excess at the top and at the bottom. And once I got done putting all of that rope on then I just trim all of that excess off and after I got that done, I did add another piece of rope all the way around the outside edge just to so you wouldn't see all the ends of those pieces of rope. That's why it might be better to wrap it if you have enough. Then, you wouldn't have to worry about that and now, I'm going to make his top hat. So, I just took two pieces of cardboard. I cut one into basically a square and one into a long strip. I added two pieces to the back to hold it together. However, if you have a enough piece of cardboard you can just make the hat all out of one piece and next I started adding sticks to it I just got all of these sticks out of my backyard and I just kind of started lining them up on the cardboard and the sticks aren't straight you're never going to find perfectly straight sticks so there might be some gaps here and there so I just took thinner sticks and I kind of just put them into those little spaces and then I trimmed off any excess pieces look how rustic and that is. And then I did flip that hat over and I peeled off those pieces that I used to hold the hat together because now that the sticks are on there that's going to hold the hat together. And after I was done doing that I did take another piece of cardboard and I added some fabric to it. I kind of scrunched it up and glued it to the back and then I just wrapped it around that piece of cardboard. And while I was doing it I kind of made sure that it had like these little and ruffles in it to make it look like a real scarf would be like kind of bunched up around the neck of the snowman and I did kind of have to fuss with it just a little bit I added a little bit more glue in some spots and I kind of scrunched it up a little bit more but once I got that looking the way I wanted it I took another piece of that fabric and just tied it to one end so it looks like the extra pieces hanging down and then I frayed those just a little bit Now I'm going to take this button which was a perfect match. I think it was my grandmother's button and I glued it right over the knot. The next thing I did was I took this oblong shaped button and I painted it orange. And this is going to be the snowman's nose. And I used a baby wipe because I wanted to kind of still see that wood grain through to kind of keep with the rustic theme of this little snowman. And then I took some Waverly Antique Wax and I just kind of lightly went over the snowman head and this part is definitely optional you don't have to grunge this up if you don't want to but for me I just thought it kind of went with the rustic theme and then I just glued the scarf down I put a good amount of hot glue on there and I did hold it for a few seconds and then I did the same thing with the hat I did it just around the bottom of the hat but then I did kind of flip it over and add a little glue underneath the upper part then I added two buttons for the eyes and I glued my little orange nose on and I think he's already looking so cute but I do want to add one more finishing touch to it. So, I just took different branches off of different picks, some pine tree picks and some berry picks and some pine cone picks and I kind of formed them into a bouquet and I've wrapped the bottom of them with some raffia and then to cover that up, I just added a raffia bow to the bottom of it and I did finish off the back with red felt and I put a hanger on him and I love him. He is very rustic and he is so stinking cute and I really hope you like the project and I hope you give this one a try. Thanks so much for watching everyone. Have a great day and we'll see you next time. Bye bye.
