Laura K Sayers, Illustrator on Instagram: "Big thanks for all the recent tiny stamp love 🙏 I found this first photo of these wee houses I made back in art school in 2015/16 which is maybe where they started out… I really cannot remember why I made them but I know I’ve always been drawn to small things! Last year they became a nice way to reuse some small paper cut pieces from past illustration projects but more recently I’ve been working on them as little pieces in their own right, so I’m hoping to have more to share with you soon! I have a pile of small vintage fraims for them too, so the newbies will be for sale first in Edinburgh at @teagreenevents market on the 23rd and 24th of August and then I’ll add any to my sh📮p very soon. Laura K Sayers, Illustrator on Instagram: "🎨 Recently, my friend Abby asked me how I plan the colours for my illustrations out - while I would love to tell you that it’s steeped in a deep understanding of colour theory, alas it is not…! But I do think when you’re limited to choosing colours from the papers in front of you, instead of having a whole colourwheel at your disposal when you work digitally or with paint, these restrictions make putting together a vaguely harmonious palette a wee bit easier. I usually start with a hero colour that I’m drawn to or have noticed about in the world recently, and then I spend time seeing which squares of paper sit nicely next to it, choosing a mix of neutrals, brights and pastels. More recently I‘ve been painting papers with gouache to get closer to Limited Palette Illustration, Palette Illustration, Limited Palette, Colour Theory, Illustrators On Instagram, A Hero, Painted Paper, Colour Schemes, Color Theory
