The 2025 Design Career Fair returns to the Gatton Student Center on Friday, February 28 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The annual event, to be held in the student center's Grand Ballroom and Social Staircase area, marks the seventh career fair for the College of Design, and the third in partnership with the Department of Landscape Architecture.
Earlier this week the College of Design’s sections of UK 101 and UK 201 welcomed four alumni to share their professional journey with students in a lunch-and-learn-style speaker series titled “Successful Careers in Design”.
UK 101 and UK 201 courses are designed to be an introductory course for first year and transfer students, focused on skill building, finding community and career exploration. In college-specific sections of the course, instructors have the discretion to add content tailored to majors, career interests and student requests.
The University of Kentucky College of Design’s Fall 2024 Lecture Series offered a dynamic lineup of talks, exhibitions and workshops that explored the intersection of design, architecture and innovation. This Spring 2025 elective course explores the art and technique of slip casting, a ceramic process that involves pouring liquid clay (slip) into plaster molds to create precise, repeatable forms.
This workshop, led by Pooya Mohaghegh, will focus on fabric-formed concrete casting, providing students with hands-on experience in both digital design and physical fabrication.

The University of Kentucky College of Design, College of Education and Gatton College of Business and Economics hosted Nike’s Vice President of Design Culture and Blue Ribbon Studio Ronnie Wright for a series of events across campus earlier this month.
Join us for a pop-up exhibit all about chair design. The event will take place in the Clearing of the Gray Design Building and will feature chairs from the College of Design collection and from college faculty, as well as chairs from Gonzo Vintage and the collection of Matt Smith.

Carly Hagins, assistant professor in the Product Design program, recently attended the Design Society's Engineering and Product Design in Education (E&PDE) in Birmingham, United Kingdom, where she was awarded "Best Visual Paper" for her research paper Reading Visuals: Exploring the Use of AI in Qualitative Research Analysis.
