Cognates include Estonian sarg, Ingrian sarka, Karelian sarka, Livvi sargu, Veps sarg, Votic sarkõ, Northern Sami suorgi (branch), Tundra Nenets [script needed] (tārka, branch) and Northern Selkup [script needed] (tolka, branch) (from Proto-Samoyedic *tårkå).
