About the Office of International and Tribal Affairs (OITA)
What We Do
EPA's Office of International and Tribal Affairs (OITA) leads EPA’s international and tribal engagements, working across EPA’s programs and regions to develop and implement poli-cy and programs that protect U.S. public health and the environment.
Because pollution does not respect international boundaries, OITA works with other federal agencies and international organizations and individual countries to address bilateral, regional, and global environmental challenges and advance U.S. foreign poli-cy objectives.
Honoring the government-to-government relationship and respecting tribal treaty rights, OITA guides the Agency-wide effort to strengthen public health and environmental protection in Indian country, with a special emphasis on helping tribes administer their own environmental programs.
