Case Study House #8, the home of the power couple Charles and Ray Eames Pacific Palisades, California — 1949 Designed as part of the Case Study House Program. Initiated by Arts & Architecture magazine in 1945, the program was a response to the post-World War II housing shortage. Editor John Entenza selected a group of architects to design homes that were affordable, modern, and efficient, using wartime materials and techniques to reflect contemporary life.
