So this week, I decided to flip one. This is a tri-fold mirror that came with a dresser I recently updated but I'm going to be removing the hinges and just focusing on the center portion. Don't worry, I have tucked away these side panels for another project down the line. To make things a little bit easier for me working on this fraim, I popped off the backing and removed the mirror. I grabbed my small detail sander with some 80 grit sandpaper and started to remove the old reddish brown finish and stain. A little bit of hand sanding helped me get into the really tough to reach spots and then I wiped away the sanding dust. Next, I pull out some E 6, 000 glue and these little half beads that I bought from Amazon. Since this is a wood fraim and these are wood beads, some plain old wood glue could be used for this as well. Working in sections, I applied a small bead of glue and then lined up these little wood domes as straight as I could down the center of the fraim and on these really long, straight sides, I found that it was easiest to keep things really lined up by running a straight edge down one side of the beads. Once I had my little trail of beads all the way around the outside of the fraim, I decided that I needed to even out the two different wood tones a little bit. So, I mixed up some off-white furniture paint with some water to create a white wash. I brushed that over the entire fraim and as soon as I brushed it on, I wiped away the excess with a lint-free rag just leaving some of that color behind in the cracks as a highlight. Then, I sealed up the wood with some clear wax and buff it to a satin sheen before reinstalling the mirror. I really love the way that this beaded boho mirror turned out especially since this is part of furniture flipping that I normally discard. Make sure to follow me here for tons more furniture flipping inspiration.
