I love using Google Docs you can manage students' work to help them know what needs to be completed and let parents know, too!

Missing work - FREE printable. Have the student who does not have their homework take a half sheet on a piece of colored paper and turn that in instead of their assignment and then when they bring the assignment in they can attach the paper to it. Late assignments are only accepted with the half sheet attached. Solves 2 problems, you are not constantly trying to figure out who is missing what and it forces the students to take responsibility for late work.
