This is a Jewish cemetary that blankets the Western slope of the Mount of Olives. As I descended the Mt. of Olives, I had to climb through a small opening in a wall to get this shot. There are three cemeteries leading up to the Eastern Gate of the Temple Mount. As you descend the Mount of Olives, you have the Jewish Cemetery. This is what is seen here. The Mount of Olives (also Mount Olivet, Hebrew: הר הזיתים, Har HaZeitim; Arabic: جبل الزيتون, الطور‎, Jebel ez-Zeitun, Jebel et-Tur, "Mount of the Summit") is a mountain ridge to the east of Jerusalem. It is named from the olive trees with which its sides are clothed. At the foot of the mountain is the Gardens of Gethsemane where Jesus stayed in Jerusalem, according to tradition.

Mount of Olives is the hill facing the old city of Jerusalem, on the eastern side of Kidron creek. It is a Holy place, referred in the Old and New Testaments. It is dominated by a large cemetery on its slopes.
