I made and sold quite a few of these last year. I would reduce the pattern to make a "kitten" version, painted the same way as the mother kitty. These were painted as "snow kitties" and as "Siamese"-style cats. They had fanciful colors for their ears and noses, and folk art on their stomachs. I would put glitter or mica on them, too.
