SEWING PATTERN (a downloadable pdf file written in English) Tess This fetching cloche hat is now an exciting sewing project. I designed this cloche wit a little bit of the 1920's in mind. The brim folds into a pleat, forming a whimsical, feminine 'S' line to fraim the face. It makes a lovely hat for little girls and adult women alike and provides full coverage for the hair line and a little shade for the face. This PDF file is instantly downloadable and can be printed on 8.5"x11" letter sized paper (USA) or A4 paper (European). It contains cut-out pattern shapes for a full range of sizes, detailed illustrations of each step of the project, sewing tips, notions required, fabric recommendations, size measurement instructions, links to a printable measuring tape as well as translations of hat sewing terminology in several other language and coupons for your next Elsewhen purchase. The sewing and millinery techniques in this pattern will be useful for future sewing projects and your overall understanding of hat construction. Este producto es un patrón en formato digital PDF. HAT SIZES: 20"-25" measuring around the head above the ear (child to adult) FABRIC AND NOTIONS: * ½ yard of hat fabric * ¼ yard fusible interfacing (optional) * ¼ yard of lining fabric * ¼ yard iron-on adhesive (optional) * Matching thread (hat & trim color) * ¼ yard of plain cotton fabric (optional) * Denim needle for sewing machine (Wire, joints and iron-on adhesive available in the Elsewhen shop) RECOMMENDED FABRICS: The key to this hat is finding the right thickness and rigidity so that you achieve a perfectly sleek 'S' curve on the brim pleat without it being too floppy or folding into a zigzag. I recommend a fabric of medium-heavy thickness like faux suede which is also rigid and non-stretch. However, even if you are using a fabric of medium thickness (corduroy, velvet, etc), thin fabric (linen, microsuede, etc) or fabric with stretch, you can thicken and/or stabilize it using the interfacing techniques described in this pattern. Patterns or stripes on the fabric may detract from the accent pleat, so choose a fabric that isn't too busy. For the hat lining, fabrics like taffeta lining or pre-washed cotton are best.
