Markdown rendering of quotations (blockquotes) currently have a problem on Ecency, where (block-)quoted paragraphs have no gap in-between.
Let me illustrate the issue with a quote from Theodore Dalrymple's "Litter: The Remains of Our Culture", 2011:
Generals, it has been said, always fight the present war as if it were the last war, but they are not alone in their anachronism. Whole populations may believe that they are being daring when they oppose what had long since been defeated or has passed away. This is particularly so once there has been a mass intellectualisation of society. Then millions of people may consider it their duty to reject the wisdom of ages, or at least of previous generations. To do otherwise would be to lose caste.
Hence, it would not worry young litterers to learn that that their behaviour represented a change from that of their predecessors. On the contrary, it would encourage them.
Note how (unlike Ecency) Github renders both paragraphs with a distinct empty line between them, just like normal text paragraphs are rendered.
As soon as quotations are involved, Ecency incorrectly merges adjacent paragraphs that look like a gap-less wall of text, which is a problems for posts with quotations.
(Needless to say that neither hive.blog nor PeakD have that problem.)
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
Basically blockquote needlessly swallow gap (margin, padding or line break) that follows after it. Note how text in next paragraph after blockquote have no space that separates it from blockquote.
