regex brackets are being used for case-insensitivity, e.g.,

[Ll][Ii][Pp][Ii][Dd][ |\\.|_]*[Cc][Ll][Aa][Ss][Ss]

I think this can be replaced with (?i) like this:

(?i)lipid[ |\\.|_]*class
