This beautiful avenue of beech trees known as the “Dark Hedges” was planted in the 18th century by the Stuart family as a landscape feature on the approach to their house in County Antrim. It is a popular tourist attraction on the Bregagh Road near the village of Stranocum. Locally it is said to be haunted by the “Grey Lady,” a ghost who appears to pass by the trees at dusk and disappears as she passes the last tree.
