On July 27, 1912, The New York Times ran an article titled "Tuxedo Equestrian Sports." Beneath the headline, in smaller boldface, were the words, "Miss Maude (sic) Coster Captures Three Firsts and One Second." I've spent years around horses but am mystified as to how exactly one competes in a Bending Race, or a Musical Chair, not to mention a Hand-in-Hand.
