Product Details
An extraordinary bride dress in my favourite colour of butter cream. An extraordinary production, most of it hand sewn. Let's start with the fabric, a silk satin crepe in a dropped waist style typical of 1920s bride dresses. At the hip seam there is five rows of hand ruching and full gathered skirt from there. Over the sleeveless top of the dress is a generous cape like flounce of six inch wide corded net lace. It's edge has been bias bound with the silk satin crepe fabric. In fact all dress edges are bias bound. The cape like flounce dips at the back and reaches to just below the hip line. (This would look stunning if the back silk was cut to reveal a bare back. Something a good dressmaker could easily do) The gathered skirt part of the dress has three panels of Maltese lace and a large hemline panel of the corded net lace. (Same as the cape) Then there is a kind of necklace rope made of silk that I can only imagine was draped around the neck as I have done. It's not a belt as it has no ends. A stunning bridal 1920s dress in excellent condition. The only flaws are as follows. A few pinhead holes under the lace. (See last photo) Not sure why the holes are only under the lace. I suggest it rubbed the fabric more than usual. The underarms are slightly yellow and worn. I have strengthen them both with tulle on the underside. (See last photo) This is a museum worthy piece Size XS Measurements Bust 30" Waist 25" Hip seam 28 Full gathered under hip seam Length 40" at front Length back 43" Armhole 14" around
