Lamoine State Park, Ellsworth, Maine. State park with smooth stone bottom beach. The water is very clear, very cold, and was a favorite of ours when our twins were small. Not far out of Ellsworth, Lamoine tends to be quiet and lacking the confusion and crowds generally associated with "on season" near Bar Harbor.
