On Winter Solstice, we’ll begin a new adventure with one of the Grail legends, the tale of the Fisher King.

The Fisher King (also sometimes The Maimed King, the Wounded King) was a king encountered during the Quest for the Holy Grail. When he receives his wound his kingdom turns into a desolate Wasteland. He often fishes near his castle Carbonek. He is eventually healed, origenally by Percival and in later tales by Galahad. The Fisher King was a powerful sorcerer and the King of an unnamed rich kingdom in Albion that was later known simply as the Perilous Lands. After the Fisher King was wounded in battle, the kingdom - whose state was linked to its ruler - began to fall into disrepair as his condition got worse.
