Dayeeta Pal | Hyper-realistic Cake Artist | Illusion Cakes on Instagram: "Black or Dark buttercream is always a nightmare as you need loads of colour to get the perfect dark shade. Few simple ways can achieve a very dark colour (not just black!) with less dye- 1)Microwaving the black buttercream naturally richens the colour to atleast twice (if not more) its normal strength. 2) Leave to rest overnight. Longer you leave a dark colour, the deeper the colour gets. 3) Use gel colour. After trying several options, I find @sugarflaircoloursltd black extra works best to achieve a rich dark shade. 4) Start with chocolate buttercream as that way you naturally start with a dark colour. Scoop a small amount, add colour and microwave till melted. Mix and add to the rest of the buttercream bat

No dye black frosting (that tastes amazing!)
This frosting uses only black cocoa powder to achieve the deepest and most beautiful black color. To make it, I cook the cocoa with sugar to create a syrup that is then combined with butter. This creates a creamy frosting with a buttery oreo flavor that pipes and frosts smoothly onto your cakes.
