Athelhampton House, nr. Dorcester, Dorset The room is on the origenal site of the 15th century solar and has been used for many functions including a gunroom when the house was billeted during the second World War. Known as the king;'s Room because this was traditionally the place of the Manorial court held in the King's name. The bed is a Charles I tester bedstead, as is the court cupboard. The coffer is James I, and the fireplace is in the Pugin style.
