Overview
The term "study aids" or "study guides" often refers to outlines or legal summaries produced by various publishers that many law students use to help clarify the information from their classes and/or help construct their class outlines. The Law Library provides some of these materials in electronic and audio format; the Academic Success office provides print options.

Electronic Study Aids
- West Academic Study Aids Subscription This link opens in a new windowThis resource contains study aid materials on a wide variety of 1L and upper level subjects and includes series such as the Acing Series, Gilbert Law Summaries, Nutshells, Black Letter Outlines, audio study aids, and many more.
To have full access this resource. you will first need to create a West Academic account. To do that, click on the link above, and at top right click Create Your Account. When filling out this registration form you must use your UK email address ending either in @uky.edu or @g.uky.edu. After creating your account, you can now sign in at the link above.

Troubleshooting note: If you try to create an account but get an error, try signing in using the email address you tried to sign up with as your username and use the "Forgot password" function. West Academic has recently merged with other vendors, and so if you made an account with one of those other vendors with that same email address, a West Academic account was automatically created for you.
- Aspen Learning Library This link opens in a new windowFormerly the Wolters Kluwers Online Study Aid Library Contains many popular study aids series: Examples & Explanations, Emanuel Law Outlines, Glannon Guides, and more. You can use your Link blue credentials to access this resource.
For personalized features, such as setting up a personal bookshelf and saving notes and bookmarks, you can create an Aspen account at the link to the Aspen Learning Library. You will also need an Aspen account if you want to use their app.
- Lexis Digital Library | Study Aids This link opens in a new windowOn this platform law students will find selected titles from the Understanding and Q&A series of study aids in downloadable formats for Kindle and other ereaders. Most are also available to be read in the browser. Use your Link Blue information to access. To find the study aids, click into "Browse Library" at left, and you will then see categories for 1L study aids and upper-level study aids. You can also access this resource via the Lexis Digital Library app on your phone or tablet. When you open the app, use the code below, and you will then be prompted for your Link Blue credentials. Print Study Aids
The Law Library's collection of print study aids is located on the first floor of the Law Library, through the library lobby down the first aisle to your left. The Academic Enhancement office's print study aid collection is located near Prof. Johnstone's office on the south end of the second floor, near the patio.
Audio Study Aids
The Law Library has audio study guides for all 1L course subjects in CD or MP3 format, and many of the upper class subjects are covered as well. These materials can be found in the Law Library on the first floor, along with the print study guides

To see the complete list of audio study aids available, go the "Series" menu under the search box and see the Law School Legends Audio Series and the Sum & Substance Audio Series.
