TEACHING TIP~ Here’s an easy way to quickly remind children to pay attention. Prepare a poster such as the one shown and hang it in a noticeable location. Then explain each of the five steps to your class. When you need your youngsters’ attention, simply say, “Give me five!” and you’ll have them listening in no time!

"Give Me Five" is a popular way to get the attention of your class. The teacher says, "Give Me Five," and the students go through five steps: Eyes are watching, Ears are listening, Lips are zipped, Hands are still and Feet are quiet. In five seconds, the class is quiet! Included are: a full sized poster for each of the five steps, 2 different "Give Me Five" posters, and a student worksheet to reinforce the technique.
