You will need: * air dry clay * rolling pin * Skewers for even rolling * And embossed rolling pin for a pattern * A straw to cut holes for the flower stems * A cookie cutter for the desired size of the flower frog * Sealant for the clay (I use dishwasher safe mod podge) Here’s how to do it: 1. Roll the clay flat 2. Use an imprinted roller, if desired 3. Cut the clay with the cookie cutter and leave in place 4. Cut the holes with the straw 5. Remove the excess clay, and then the cut cutter 6. Allow clay to fully dry I placed mine on top of a glass bowl for a concave shape 7. You can use a dehydrator to speed up the drying process 8. Amy Powers on Instagram: "Probably the biggest planting mistake I see are people mis-reading their shade locations. If an area of your garden gets an hour or two of hot afternoon sun then you need to pick a plant that can handle full sun/partial sun. Plants like hostas and Brunnera prefer shade, but can tolerate some sun. And that little bit of sun that they tolerate cannot be hot afternoon sun. The plant will live in that location, but it won’t thrive in the edges of the plant will turn brown and burn. In these types of locations you need to plant that can handle full sun and partial Sun. Those are the plants whose tissue can handle the hottest afternoon Sun even if it’s just for a few hours and still thrive for you. Examples of these plants are: - Geranium Rozanne - Agastache / Hyssop -

I tried hanging some other hydrangeas upside down in a dark closet as a vendor from the market suggested and it did not work. These hydrangeas however are perfectly dry and almost look like they did the day I bought them! So gorgeous!! It only took these about 4 or 5 days but I’ve read it can take much longer so I’m not sure what happened but I love them! Do you have a special trick for drying them? . . . . . #fallflorals #fallfloral #fallflowers #hydrangeas #hydrangea #hydrangealove #fallcolors #fireplace #mantel #mantle #manteldecor #mantledecor #autumnflowers #autumnmood #autumndecor #iloveautumn #fallelujah #cottagevibes #cottagede
Kate Halls on Instagram: "Oh my word this could be a new favourite, it’s an absolute beauty - Rosa ‘Domaine de Chantilly ‘ from Delbard roses . I bought it last year and unlike most roses in my semi shaded garden it grew really well in its first year . The second photo shows the blooms as they get older and it’s a fading out beauty , it changes colour and holds onto its petals well and they’re such a gorgeous colour . I love the scent too . Obviously super pleased with one . A lot of images on Google show it with a bright yellow centre , it really hasn’t , I’ve added a video so you can see . Have a lovely evening 💚 #ilovethisone #onetolove #bestroses #roses #rose #gorgeous #scented #scentedroses"
Robyn Chubey - Prairie Glow Acres on Instagram: "Obelisks are g*dang expensive!! I need like a dozen or more of these and I will say right now - I had zero intention of dropping a thousand dollars on freakin obelisks. So here I go freestyle gardening again by making my own on the fly! When I found I found these cedar garden stakes at dollarama 4 for $5 I knew that I had to roll up to the counter like it was Home Depot with that useless tiny cart packed with every bit they had and embarrass my kids carrying out armfuls. Here’s the short tutorial: Cut 4: 7” pieces with a 45° angle on the long side. Cut 4: 11” pieces with a 45° angle on the long side. Nail into squares. Tack your 4 stakes together pointy steak side down. Slide your large square over at the height you desire and make
Nick Bailey on Instagram: "I use Lime-coloured plants and flowers in every garden I design. I see it as a sort of neutral colour that can be associated with any palette of tones. It can act as a binding element to pull the garden together, but I think its best facet is its ability to bring other colours to life. Add it to blue, purple or mauve and they radiate colour more brightly. Add it to reds and pink and they really sing, or add it to an orange and yellow scheme for a zesty edge. There are both foliage and flower that carry the lime or chartreuse (yellowish-green) tones I love. Some of my favourites are: FOLIAGE: Helichrysum 'Limelight' Aralia cordata 'Sun King' Heuchera 'Lime Marmalade' Nandina 'Lemon Lime' FLOWERS: Telmia grandiflora Zinnia 'Green Envy' Nicotiana 'Lime Green' Alc
The Urban Potager | gardening, foraging, homesteading, recipes on Instagram: "The bit I struggled with most when I got this garden was the dark, northeast-facing corner. The gloom isn’t helped there by being in the shade of the big plum tree. My garden is made up almost entirely of edible or medicinal plants but not many edibles like deep shade. So here I’ve made an exception. A beautiful exception. This is a hydrangea, but very different from the big, blousy pink and purple numbers that grace so many front gardens. It is Hydrangea petiolaris, a deciduous climbing hydrangea. It does best in deep shade or partial shade and, once established, it climbs without needing support and will easily cover an unsightly fence or even the wall of a house. It’s a great one for year round interes
Jamie Walton | Nettles & Petals on Instagram: "How I Plant Tomatoes! 🍅🌱 It’s an exciting day! I can finally plant my tomatoes and the many companion plants I interplant with them, now the last chance of frost has passed 😊🙌🏻 To get started, I measure out the bed and space my tomatoes at 45cm apart and dig a deep hole so I can add fresh compost underneath the plant as a little pocket of fertility. 🪱 I then water the hole to ensure the plants are well watered to minimise transplant shock, and tie a large loop in some strong garden twine which I place underneath the root ball of the plant so that it anchors it in place. ⚓️🌱 I remove any lower leaves from the plant to avoid them coming into contact with the soils surface, as I’ll be planting it deep to promote a stronger root system.
