This ring was a commitment jewel. The fede motif (two clasped hands) represents the joining of hands of the couple at a marriage ceremony, a practice that dates back to ancient Rome and was known as 'dextrarum iunctio'. This fede is turquoise-colored glass, pressed in the Georgian era and set into a tricolor gold mounting with shell and flower details at the shoulders.
