It’s a super fun way to upgrade designs that feature Flying Geese—like a cozy pillow or unique tote! Here’s what you’ll need to make four 5½” x 3” rectangles: - Four 4½” squares - Two 4½” x 2” rectangles - One 10” x 2” rectangle - Four 3⅜” squares How to create Stroked Flying Geese: 1️⃣ Join two 4½” squares with a 4½” x 2” rectangle, repeat to make two strips. 2️⃣ Add one 10” x 2” rectangle between the strips. 3️⃣ Use a 6¼” square ruler as a guide, place in the center and trim. 4️⃣ Draw diagonal lines on four 3⅜” squares, sew ¼” away from both sides of the lines, c
Muriel Corbierre on Instagram: "Here's an easy handmade Christmas gift and fast to sew, and it's super useful! Use 2 layers of insulated fleece (like Insulfleece) if you're going to use it for hot dishes. . Details: 2 of 9" (23cm) squares of Pellon InsulFleece 1 of 9.5" (25cm) square quilting cotton Several long strips of quilting cotton 1.5" (4cm) wide 1 small square of quilting cotton for the middle, mine was the little snowman, 2.25" (5.75cm) Optional but useful: odif 505 temporary adhesive and a walking foot. Seam allowance is 1/4" (6mm) I trimmed the QAYG front piece to 9.5" (25cm) to match the back piece. The fleece is intentionally shorter so that your seams are not too thick. . Mira on Instagram: "It’s almost time…✨ If you’re not already there, I hope these lovely folded stars will put you into the festive spirit..! If you want to have some strips prepped to hit the ground running when the full tutorial is out, tear (!) 4x pieces 17” long and 2” wide. This will give you the delicious texture of those frayed edges.. 🤫 tip - you can make paper versions of these as well, if you prefer Save this post for reference or send to a fabric friend for some seasonal creating ❤️✨ See you soon for more star folding 🙋‍♀️😍 P.s. Many of you have enquired before about these gorgeous @wmorrisandco fabrics for @freespiritfabrics - they are from the Cotswold Holiday collection which is available in shops now. (I used them for my last #circleofmakers project for FreeSpirit F

Holly Clarke Design on Instagram: "Have you ever made 40 HSTs at the same time? It’s easy! 1. Layer 2 FQs together then draw out a grid of squares. 2. Draw diagonal lines in every second square. 3. Put a pin in every triangle. 4. Sew a continuous 1/4” seam along both sides of every drawn line, avoiding the pins as you go. My PFAFF Performance Icon has a fantastic feature in which is raises the presser foot whenever I stop stitching, which is ideal when you need to pivot a seam! 5. Cut along all the drawn lines. 6. Admire the magic you just accomplished. 7. Press open or to the dark side. I learned about this method in a book called “All-in-One Quilter’s Reference Tool”. The math is straightforward... Whatever size HSTs you want, draw your squares that size + 7/8”. (I wanted 3” HSTs so I

Lella Boutique on Instagram: "Have you tried this no-waste flying geese method? I’m obsessed! In this example, the flying geese end up 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” unfinished (a very common size). (2” x 4” finished) To get there, I started with (1) blue square 5-1/4” x 5-1/4” and (4) smaller squares 2-7/8” x 2-7/8. (Ignore the fact that the print of the smaller squares changes halfway through 🤦‍♀️.) I’m using Bernina no 37 “patchwork foot” on my sewing machine. #lellaboutique #modafabrics #oldgloryfabric #flyinggeeseblock #quilting"
Kaycee | Modern Quilt Pattern Designer & Writer on Instagram: "Here’s my favorite way to bind a quilt! It’s so nice because I usually always have strips of fabric left over after I make my quilt. At Christmas, I made a candy cane binding using this same method, and it is just so fun. A few notes: -There are so many different options. Your strips don’t even have to be the same width. I did 2.5” here, but I have also done quilts where I alternated 1.5” and 3” strips. -it helps to starch and press before cutting your first strips because the fabric is cut on the bias, which makes it a little stretchy. My favorite is @magicfabriccare as you can see in the background! -I pressed to the side in this video, but I find that the seams are much flatter when you press open, so that’s what I reco
