REQUIRED: Tuition Deposit

A $500 tuition deposit is required to reserve your admission seat for Fall 2025. When you enter the program in the fall, your deposit will be applied against your tuition bill. If you do not enter the program, the deposit is non-refundable. Be sure to use decimals when submitting the amount. Example: for a $500 deposit, submit 500.00

Submit UKCOP Tuition Deposit

Please refer to the websites linked below for relevant information for the current Academic Year.

  • Cost of Attendance: The total estimated expenses to attend UK, including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.
  • Tuition and Fees: These are the specific charges for instruction and related services, excluding other living and personal expenses.

REQUIRED: Background Check and Drug Screen

One to two days after the deadline to accept your seat and pay the tuition deposit, you will receive two emails from studentedition@certiphi.com (Certiphi Screening, Inc./Application Station). Both emails will have the same subject line: Conditional Acceptance Background Check Consent. The emails are auto-generated and you will receive both (please check your inbox/spam/junk/filters, etc. and check that emails with the same subject line did not 'stack' behind each other). Read both emails carefully. One will have instructions for completing your Criminal Background Check and the other will include instructions for completing your Drug Screening.

The process includes completing the authorization forms and payments for each process separately, locating an acceptable lab facility to complete the urine drug screen, and submitting a urine specimen. Each of these items must be completed by the stated deadline, including submitting the urine sample.

Before urine specimens, do not drink an excessive amount of water, otherwise, your results will be "diluted" and you will have to reschedule, repay, and resubmit your sample.

All results will be available to UKCOP once the screening process is completed. Due to the volume of screenings, UKCOP cannot confirm receipt. If there is an issue or concern, you will be contacted; otherwise, assume your results are received and approved.

If you have questions about the process, contact Certiphi directly via the phone number they provide (or call 800-803-7859). They will provide assistance, as this procedure is completely independent of UKCOP.

REQUIRED: Fall and Spring PharmCAS Academic Updates

REQUIRED: Fall and Spring PharmCAS Academic Updates

All incoming (accepted) students are required to complete the Fall and Spring PharmCAS Academic Updates. Completion includes entering updated grades (and anticipated coursework, if any) by the UKCOP deadline, sending transcripts of updated coursework directly to PharmCAS, and monitoring your PharmCAS account to ensure your updated information has been verified. The Transcript Entry section and sending transcripts to PharmCAS works the same way as when you applied. If you are having difficulties, please contact PharmCAS's help center to help you work through it.

CPR Training

The College of Pharmacy requires that all pharmacy students be certified in the American Heart Association BLS Provider CPR training program by October 1 of their first professional year. Additional Information will be provided on Canvas and during orientation. Please wait to receive this information as there are specific requirements to obtain certification for UKCOP purposes. Contact Julianne Kravetz.

Immunization Records

The Class of 2028 Immunization Compliance Form (Letter Details) issued by the UK Healthcare MyChart is due to the Academic & Student Affairs Office by October 1, 2024. Information will be provided on this topic at orientation. Contact Julianne Kravetz

Intern Card

Students may apply for their intern card through the KY Board of Pharmacy once they have received a conditional acceptance email. This is important if students want to begin obtaining intern hours in the summer before classes start. We encourage students who are working in a pharmacy to begin collecting their intern hours as soon as they become conditionally accepted; however, all required hours will be met through the curriculum. Additional information will be provided on this topic during orientation. More information can be found on the KY Board of Pharmacy website.

A print-out of your acceptance email is proof of your enrollment for internship application purposes. For non-Kentucky students, if your state requires a signed form, please send form to jme@uky.edu.

Summer Prerequisite Course Approval

All students taking pre-pharmacy prerequisite coursework over the summer must receive prior course approval by contacting pharmacyadvising@uky.edu

Students are required to submit petitions for summer prerequisite courses no later than March 15th of each year.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: What does "conditional" acceptance mean?
A: EVERY candidate is "conditionally" accepted because every candidate has conditions that must be met before entering the program. Some may have prerequisites to complete. Everyone must pass the drug and background screening, submit certain documentation that may be specific to you, and/or other criteria. Each candidate's circumstance is unique, and, because application and acceptance occurs up to one year before entrance, many things can change in your application -- that is why each acceptance is conditional. We will let you know what you need to complete and the deadline for completion. You will be notified if you are not meeting the conditions.

Q: When do I take the "assessment" test?
A: All conditionally admitted applicants will be offered a competency-based math and science assessment. We will let you know when this will occur (usually during early orientation). Students requiring or who feel as though they may need extra help will have access to UKCOP faculty-developed math and science modules. The assessment and modules will be offered as an enhanced preparation for the PharmD curriculum and completion will be strongly encouraged.

Q: When is Launch/Orientation/White Coat Ceremony/First Day of Classes?
A: Dates for these events are listed at the top of this page. Last year's dates remain posted to give you a general idea when they will likely occur. As soon as dates are finalized, they will be posted above and you will receive information.

Q: How do I get housing?
A:  Students are responsible for securing housing. For on-campus housing options, see https://wildcatliving.uky.edu/graduate-and-family-housing.  Most students choose to live off-campus. There are many options within walking, biking, and driving distance. Public transportation is available. Use the class Facebook Group to find roommates.

Q: When will I receive linkblue info and student IDs?
A: Whether you are a current UK student or not, everyone will receive information about new IDs and linkblue credentials (your sign-on for UK access) when they are ready in late spring. You will receive email notification and instructions.
