Pointed at both ends with equally curved sides, the term navette often refers to a curved gemstone- rumored to have been based on the shape of the Marquise De Pompadour's lips, the Marquise/Navette shape was extremely popular in the 19th c. This wonderful english example, however, takes a lovely twist on that shape using it to present a heavily gothic cross. Circa 1865, this wonderful ring has the most beautiful stylization featuring enameled shoulders and pearls that create the lustrous cross.
