IKEA Responds: Expedit Versus Kallax — Design News. In response the the uproar about their discontinuation of EXPEDIT, IKEA released photos of the KALLAX yesterday. Like many of you mentioned in the comments, the KALLAX is a slight tweak on the beloved shelving system: a more scratch-resistant surface, slightly rounded corners, and thinner outer boards, but the same internal dimensions. In response the the uproar about their discontinuation of EXPEDIT, IKEA released photos of the KALLAX yesterday. DIY Mum - Kayleigh Sherbourne on Instagram: "🔹GIANT IKEA KALLAX MAKEOVER🔹 We all know I love a KALLAX makeover, so I decided to go big on this one. Using one 4x4 KALLAX and one 2x4 KALLAX I made a wardrobe for my son’s room. This may look built in but it’s not, it’s renter friendly! The KALLAX units are attached to each other and then both attached to the wall with brackets. I painted the wall and the KALLAX units in ‘Hornblower’ from @frenchicpaint #gifted I made the door out of 12mm MDF with 9mm MDF for the shaker style panels. I also used 9mm MDF to make it look more built in. I bought the barn door kit from @amazonuk the rail is attached to the MDF and the KALLAX unit and I’ve used metal self drilling plasterboard fixings too.
