This series of mosaics was inspired by the beauty of the Easdale slate which comes from a group of islands off the west coast of Scotland. The designs were based on the shapes and colours of the slate. Additional materials, including other types of slate, stone, glass were used to add variety and texture to each mosaic. "Hidden Gem"-The stunning mosaic created with slate, petrified wood, stained glass. A flower is looking for light through the crevice of the earth. Each piece of slate was carefully cut and designed. Each piece is carefully placed in a black adhesive. The mosaic is 3.25" 5.25" and mounted in a 4" x 6" x 1" painted black shadow box. A sawtooth hanger was fastened on the back ready to display.
