How to split slate to use in mosaic art
Sometimes it helps to split slate before using it in a mosaic. You can use a hammer and chisel to do this, or a hammer and spokeshave/plane blade. Splitting slate creates thinner pieces. You can use the larger pieces as key features in your mosaic design, or you can break them up further with other tools.
