I have two friends who had homebirths last summer. One had an unassisted water birth, and the other had a midwife-assisted homebirth. When my husband Carlos and I got pregnant last fall, I knew that I wanted a homebirth. I had birthed four babies previously, all with OB/GYNs in a hospital (with induction and pain relief), and I wasn’t happy with those experiences. Unless otherwise told, you can take advantage of this stretch. Otherwise, feed baby every 2-3 hours until they’ve regained birth weight.

With my first pregnancy I was induced and once I got the epidural I was basically paralyzed from the waste down. This time my chiropractor recommended asking the anesthesiologist to start with a lighter dose of the epidural. My nurses and midwife had never heard of this but the anesthesiologist was great and said no problem. What does this mean? Basically my epidural was at half of what the hospital normally does but I was still able to up the dose with my little epidural button if I needed it. Because it was at a lower dose I was able to move around in my bed without assistance, pus Birth Preferences, Normal Birth, Traveling Mom, Unmedicated Birth, On My Knees, Toddler Mom, First Pregnancy, My Bed, Pregnancy Tips
