The previous version of VNS is available here, but will be retired soon (after moving remaining users to this new version). You are welcome to create an account, messages from the previous VNS will automatically stop if you do.

If you would like to change your account settings or create a new account, please enter your email address and click submit.
You will receive an email with a link to change your account settings. If the account is new, the email will also explain your default account settings.
SMS/Texts: We do not send texts directly. However, most cell providers have an email to text capability. Visit your cell provider for more information.
Here are examples of email to text addresses for some of the common cell carriers:
- AT&T - cellnumber@txt.att.net
- T-Mobile - cellnumber@tmomail.net
- Verizon - cellnumber@vtext.com

The Volcano Notification Service (VNS) is a free service of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
that sends you emails about volcanic activity at U.S. monitored volcanoes using
the USGS Volcano Alert Level System.
You can customize VNS to only deliver notices for certain volcanoes, or multiple volcanoes, as well as choose the notice types you want to receive.
Notices are issued by these U.S. Volcano Observatories: Alaska (AVO) (and Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Islands), California (CalVO), Cascades (CVO), Hawaiian (HVO) (and American Samoa) and Yellowstone (YVO).
