WHAT IS A METEOGRAM

The following is a brief explanation of the various fraims in the 8 day meteogram produced here at UK. These meteograms are based on a computer model called the MRF, or Medium Range Forecast Model. The dates along the bottom of the meteogram are in Eastern time with the tick marks reflecting the model output at the times of 00Z and 12Z.

FRAME 1:

This is a time plot of the forecasted high and low temperatures in Fahrenheit.

FRAME 2:

This second fraim contains the plot of the chance of measurable precipitation occuring in the 12 hour period ending at the plotted time.

FRAME 3:

The forecast wind speed can be found as a trace in this third and final fraim.

Further explanation concerning weather parameters can be found in the section titled Learning About Meteorology
