MEAN PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS WERE AROUND 1.60 IN. VARYING FROM .60 OF AN INCH AT CUMBERLAND GAP TO 2.82 INCHES AT PADUCAH AND 3.27 INCHES AT MARKLAND. WEEK ENDING NOV 14, 1993: THE WEEK BEGAN COOL AND DRY BUT ENDED WET AND VERY WARM. HIGHEST TEMPERATURES AT WEEK`S END ROSE INTO THE 70S AND LOWER 80S WHILE LOWEST READINGS DURING THE FIRST PART OF THE WEEK FELL INTO THE UPPER TEENS AND LOWER 20S. TEMPERATURES AVERAGED AROUND 50 DEGREES WHICH IS A DEGREE OR TWO ABOVE NORMAL FOR MID-NOVEMBER. ALL REPORTING STATIONS RECEIVED SOME RAINFALL. WESTERN KENTUCKY RECEIVED THE MOST RAIN WITH AMOUNTS BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES. SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY RECEIVED THE LEAST RAINFALL WITH AMOUNTS GENERALLY LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH. WEEK ENDING NOV 7, 1993: NOT AVAILABLE. WEEK ENDING OCT 31, 1993: AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS KENTUCKY WERE BELOW NORMAL FOR THE WEEK ENDING OCTOBER 31, 1993, WHILE DAILY MINIMUM TEMPERATURES AVERAGED NEAR OR SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL. WEEK ENDING OCTOBER 3, 1993: THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURES FOR THE WEEK ROSE INTO THE UPPER 70S AND LOWER 80S WITH NIGHT-TIME LOWS FALLING INTO THE LOW AND MID 30S. WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 12, 1993: NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES, BUT A LACK OF RAIN CHARACTERIZED THE WEATHER THE PAST WEEK OVER KENTUCKY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AVERAGED AROUND 80 WITH LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. LITTLE OR NO RAINFALL OCCURRED OVER WEST AND CENTRAL PARTS OF THE STATE, WHILE EAST KENTUCKY SAW AMOUNTS AVERAGING ABOUT 0.75 OF AN INCH. DEFICITS STATEWIDE WERE ABOUT 0.50 OF AN INCH. WEEK ENDING AUGUST 29, 1993: HOT AND HUMID WEATHER CONTINUED OVER KENTUCKY THIS PAST WEEK WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES EVERY DAY RAISING INTO THE LOWER AND MID 90S. THIS RESULTED IN TEMPERATURES SOME 7-10 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. PRECIPITATION WAS SPOTTY AT BEST IN SCATTERED SHOWERS. AMOUNTS OF MOST LOCATIONS AVERAGED 0.50 TO 0.75 IN. BELOW NORMAL WITH TOTALS FOR THIS WEEK LESS THAN 0.50 IN. ONLY A FEW LOCATIONS, WHERE HEAVIER SHOWERS OCCURRED, RECEIVED AMOUNTS CLOSE TO NORMAL. WEEK ENDING AUGUST 22, 1993: HOT AND DRY WEATHER CONTINUED OVER MOST PARTS OF KENTUCKY AGAIN THIS PAST WEEK. TEMPERATURES AVERAGED 3-5 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL WITH HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S TO LOWER 90S. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURES OCCURRED THE FIRST AND MIDDLE PARTS OF THE WEEK WITH SOMEWHAT COOLER READINGS OVER THE WEEKEND. WEEK ENDING AUGUST 1, 1993: HOT AND GENERALLY DRY WEATHER PREVAILED ACROSS KENTUCKY EARLY IN THE WEEK BEFORE A COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE BROUGHT COOLER TEMPERATURES AND LOWER HUMIDITY TO THE STATE BY THE END OF THE WEEK. ON AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES FOR THE WEEK WERE FROM 3-6 ABOVE NORMAL IN MOST AREAS, WHILE MINIMUM TEMPERATURES AVERAGED FROM NEAR NORMAL TO 3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE 80S AND LOWER 90S WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE 50S AND 60S. FOR THE WEEK, TEMPERATURES AVERAGED IN THE MID AND UPPER 70S, WHICH IS 3-5 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL FOR EARLY JUNE. ALL REPORTING STATIONS REPORTED RAIN LAST WEE, BUT AMOUNTS VARIED GREATLY. WEEK ENDING MAY 30, 1993: NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES, BELOW NORMAL RAINFALL. HIGH TEMPERATURES AVERAGED NEAR 80 DEGREES, ABOUT NORMAL. LOW TEMPERATURES AVERAGED UPPER 50S, FEW DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. WEEK ENDING MAY 9, 1993: UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES PREVAILED OVER KENTUCKY DURING THE PAST WEEK. DAYTIME HIGHS WERE IN THE 80'S WITH LOWS AROUND THE 60'S WITH DEVIATIONS FROM NORMAL AVERAGING ALMOST 10 DEGREES TOO WARM. RAINFALL VARIED ACROSS THE STATE WITH WELL ABOVE AVERAGE TOTALS IN THE WEST, BUT BELOW NORMAL VALUES IN THE CENTRAL AND EAST PARTS. AVERAGE LOWS IN GENERAL WERE 2-4 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. IN THE WEST AND ACROSS THE SOUTH THERE WERE A FEW STATIONS THAT HAD LOWS AVERAGE NEAR OR SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL. PRECIPITATION DURING THE WEEK AVERAGED 0.25 TO 0.50 OF AN INCH BELOW NORMAL FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN KENTUCKY. IN THE NORTHWEST, TOTALS OF JUST OVER 2.00 INCHES PUSHED THE WEEKEND AVERAGE TO VALUES THAT WERE 1.00 INCH TO 1.50 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. WEEK ENDING APRIL 4, 1993: COOL WEATHER AND BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION COVERED KENTUCKY FOR THE PAST WEEK. HIGH TEMPERATURES AVERAGED AROUND 60 DEGREES WITH AVERAGE LOWS AROUND 40 DEGREES. THE WARMEST READINGS OCCURRED THE FIRST PART OF THE WEEK WITH HIGH IN THE 70S. THE COOLEST TEMPERATURES WERE FRIDAY (4/2) WHEN MOST LOCATIONS HAD HIGHS ONLY IN THE 30S. PRECIPITATION TOTALS FOR THE WEEK AVERAGED 0.60 TO 0.90 OF AN INCH WITH MOST LOCATIONS 0.25 TO 0.50 OF AN INCH BELOW NORMAL. MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION OCCURRED WED. (3/31) AND THURS. (4/1) WITH ONLY SPOTTY LIGHT PRECIPITATION THE FIRST OF THE WEEK AND OVER THE WEEKEND. March - Early March continued the below normal temperature trend. Widespread precipitation kept soil saturated Statewide. Heavy snow in the eastern one-third of the State at mid-month halted all farm activities. More seasonable temperatures returned at month's end stimulating growth of early season grasses and winter small grains. February - The temperature trend reversed itself in February. Average temperatures for the month were as much as 2 degrees below normal. Precipitation in most locations was above normal and led to snowfall amounts for the month between 10 and 15 inches in Central and East Kentucky. January - January temperatures were around 6 degrees above normal and many record high temperatures occurred during the month. Precipitation was variable with the West averaging a little above normal while the East was below normal. Due to the warmer than normal temperatures snowfall averaged less than 1 inch. December 1992 - December continued the warm trend as temperatures again averaged above normal. As with November the East led the way with readings more than 4 degrees above normal. Precipitation over most of the State was well below normal. The exception was the East where the warm, wet weather pushed average precipitation over 1 inch above normal. Snow was reported in most areas of the State. Many locations receiving several inches of snow on Christmas Day. November 1992 - November was warmer than normal. In the East in fact temperatures were more than 4 degrees above normal. Most of the State received above normal precipitation for the month. Snowfall was reported only in the East.
