These resources will help you find and apply for funding opportunities. IMPORTANT: All applicants must register with NIH’s eRA Commons in order to submit an application. Applicants must also register with the System for Award Management (SAM) and Grants.gov. See Appendix A in the specific SAMHSA Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for all registration requirements. It is strongly recommended that applicants start the registration process six (6) weeks in advance of the application due date. SAMHSA periodically presents a live training webinar for prospective applicants interested in applying to FY 2020 grant programs. The webinar provides information on how to submit applications to SAMHSA using NIH’s eRA System, including application and registration processes, requirements and validations, and the post-submission process. Check the Grant Announcements and Grants Training Materials pages for live webinar dates. View a recording of the SAMHSA Applicant Webinar (39 minutes). View the FOA Applicant Webinar Presentation (PDF | 7.4 MB). Presenter comments are viewable by hovering over the bubble in the upper left corner of the page. Please Note: Effective October 1, 2020 SAMHSA will no longer include the HHS Checklist in the grant application kit. This applies to all SAMHSA applications: responses to Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs), post-award amendments, continuations, and supplement applications. See Removal of HHS Checklist from the SAMHSA Grant Application Kit for more information. Eligibility Only domestic public and private non-profit entities can apply for SAMHSA grants. Check for any additional eligibility requirements in the specific SAMHSA Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA), or on Grants.gov, to see if you are eligible to apply for that grant. Choose a Funding Opportunity Search SAMHSA’s FOAs on the Grant Announcements page or on Grants.gov. To find a SAMHSA funding opportunity on Grants.gov, enter either the Funding Opportunity Number (SAMHSA’s FOA number) or the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number. Both numbers are on the cover page of the FOA. Each FOA includes specific instructions for completing an application. Information on Electronic Submission Visit the Submitting Your Application page for information about the four separate registration processes you must complete to submit a grant application to SAMHSA. Note: SAMHSA requires that applications be submitted electronically through Grants.gov. Successfully submitted applications through Grants.gov will then proceed to the NIH eRA Commons system and validations. Once your submitted application is successfully validated by the NIH eRA Commons system, it will be forwarded to SAMHSA as the receiving institution for further review. SAMHSA will not accept or consider any applications sent by email or fax, or hand-carried without an approved waiver. Please see the “Waiver of Electronic Submission” section on the Submitting Your Application for further details.
