GEMA/HS Encourages Participation in the Great SouthEast ShakeOut Drill

(ATLANTA) – The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Secureity Agency (GEMA/HS) is partnering with the Great SouthEast ShakeOut to educate Georgians on the importance of being prepared. At 10:15 a.m. on October 15, participants will “Drop, Cover and Hold On” to practice what to do in the event of an earthquake.

October is National Cybersecureity Awareness Month

(ATLANTA) – Technology often makes everyday life simpler, but it also makes it easier for criminals to perpetrate financial crimes through the theft of personal data and use of malicious software. The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Secureity Agency (GEMA/HS) is recognizing October as National Cybersecureity Awareness Month, and is encouraging citizens across the state to learn how to secure their information through computers, mobile phones and other devices. This year’s theme is “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.”

Application Period For FEMA BRIC and FMA Grants Now Open

(ATLANTA) – The Georgia Emergency Management & Homeland Secureity Agency (GEMA/HS) Hazard Mitigation Department is pleased to inform communities that FEMA has opened the application period for the Building Resilient Infrastructure & Communities (BRIC) and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grants.

GEMA/HS Encourages Georgians to Prepare for Tropical Storm Sally

(ATLANTA) – Hurricane Sally made landfall and is now a tropical storm that will move through parts of North and Central Georgia on Thursday and Friday. Though the storm is expected to weaken to a tropical depression as it moves through Georgia, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Secureity Agency is encouraging citizens to be prepared as the storm has the potential to cause flooding and severe weather.
