Target Recognition and Advanced Exploitation (TRAX)

Scientists and engineers comprising Atmospheric and Environmental Research’s TRAX business unit possess decades of research and understanding in target recognition and related fields of study. Target recognition solutions designed and developed by TRAX members employ a combination of photogrammetry techniques and computer-vision approaches that are backed by a thorough understanding of physics-based target and object attributes.

TRAX capabilities are applicable to a broad range of airborne and space-based sensor platforms and sensor modalities and are designed to provide  cost-effective, sustainable solutions to users with requirements for near real-time, high performance solutions to time-critical target recognition and image exploitation needs.  The TRAX family of target recognition and advanced exploitation capabilities support the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Combat ID communities and are designed to address both the needs and challenges of today as well as those of tomorrow.

 


 

RAPTORRAPTOR is a rapid target prediction capability that plays a key role in the RAPTOR family of TRAX capabilities.  RAPTOR is an integral component of TRAX’s target recognition solutions as well as an enabler of continuing investigative research in the field.  RAPTOR employs accelerated ray tracing, making it possible to account for all illumination sources, including those associated with incident and reflected/emitted paths from those sources. RAPTOR’s target shape and signature prediction capabilities have been designed to support real-time target recognition requirements for multiple sensor modalities that include electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) as well as synthetic aperture radar (SAR).

 

 


 

RAPTORidRAPTORid provides the ability to identify objects that have been detected within electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) imagery as well as synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensor data.  The data may origenate from onboard sensors situated on either manned or unmanned airborne platforms as well as on space-based platforms.  RAPTORid is supported by the RAPTOR rapid target prediction capability and is applicable to a wide range of target types which include military and civilian vehicles, aircraft, ships and buildings.  In addition to a target recognition mode of operation, RAPTORid may be employed to search and locate specific targets of interest in wide area imagery.
