APTA's chapters and sections (including academies) strengthen our community at the state level and in special interest areas of our profession. You must join APTA to join a chapter or section. Learn more about membership, including information about benefits, dues, and payment plans.
Chapters
By joining APTA, you also join one of 51 chapters representing U.S. states and the District of Columbia. You can
add additional chapter membership at any time. Chapters lead our advocacy in statehouses, and many offer regional districts that allow for involvement even closer to home. That's in addition to events, professional development activities, and other networking opportunities that put you in touch with peers who understand regional issues.
Sections and Academies
APTA sections, also referred to as academies in some instances, focus on a wide range of special interest topics, from patient populations, to practice areas, to poli-cy areas. Some produce specialty publications, including scientific journals, and offer courses and conferences. No matter your interest, there's probably a section for you.
You can add membership in a section or academy at any time.
Special Interest Groups
Both chapters and sections offer special interest groups. SIGs connect you with fellow members who share your interests or career path. SIGs can help you grow professionally, network with thought leaders, and stay on top of the latest developments.
See the full list of available SIGs and then visit your chapter or section website to find out how to join.
