CCTS is Expanding!

White, all-caps text reads "We're Moving" against black rectangular parallelograms; a slight blur effect suggests movement.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 27, 2024) We’re excited to announce that the CCTS Clinical Research Unit is expanding! Our move to the third floor of the Roach Building (Chandler Hospital Pavilion CC) is now underway.

This transition will fundamentally enhance the capacity of the CCTS Clinical Research Unit by:

  • Combining our outpatient and inpatient services in one location;
  • Adding 4 new beds/exam rooms, bringing our total to fifteen rooms for participant visits and stays (including 2 FAABC rooms and 1 behavioral science room);
  • Allowing rooms to be flexed across inpatient and outpatient needs based on demand;
  • Creating new nursing and coordinator staff flexibility for types of visits and stays as a benefit of co-location;
  • Preserving functional transport connections to hospital resources, such as imaging and procedure suites;
  • Providing opportunities for introducing new services and greater availability; and
  • Optimizing our research capabilities and ability to serve our participants.

The move also helps facilitate Chandler Medical Center's goals to cohort patients by service in order to build provider/staff efficiency and reinforce the importance of the unique competencies of our nursing specialty service.

Timeline

The move will occur in two phases.

  • Phase 1 involves the inpatient unit currently on 5 North.  The inpatient unit is scheduled to move into the new space on November 11, 2024.  FAABC equipment including the Dexa scanner is included in Phase 1.
  • Phase 2 involves the outpatient unit and administrative offices.  The outpatient unit is scheduled to move into the new space by March 17, 2025.

The move affects several other UKHC areas and the teams are committed to meeting this deadline.  The CCTS appreciates your understanding and support during this period of change. We will keep you informed and involved throughout this process as details become available.
