World Food Day 2024 marked the beginning of a 365-day journey leading up to FAO’s 80th anniversary – a global call to write the next chapter of FAO’s story together.
This milestone invites all of us to celebrate early and take part in a year-long tribute. Plan events throughout the year, showcasing actions, innovations, and best practices that advance a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food future.
Don’t miss the special exhibit at the Marble Staircase inside FAO Headquarter, highlighting FAO’s eight decades of impactful work. Through group visits, explore how FAO has advanced the fight against hunger, promoted sustainable agriculture, and empowered communities worldwide.

Junior World Food Week wrap-up
The fourth edition of Junior World Food Week celebrated the theme “Right to Food: For a Better Life, a Better Future”, highlighting the vital role of youth and educators in shaping a sustainable food future. The event engaged 1,500 attendees at FAO headquarters and reached an additional 28,500 global viewers via live streams.
Highlights included live performances, interactive games, and inspiring guest appearances by Food Heroes like the Harlem Globetrotters, Chef Max Mariola, and Matteo Ward. Workshops such as “Upcycle a T-shirt” and a cooking session with Chef Binta promoted sustainability, creativity, and respect for food. This week underscored the importance of empowering the next generation to champion the right to food for all.

The Food and Agriculture Museum and Network
To be inaugurated on World Food Day, 16 October 2025, the new FAO museum will serve as a permanent exhibition and educational space open to the public. Dedicated to food and agriculture and our connection to it, the museum will explore FAO’s mandate in an interactive, digital environment. It will foster knowledge-sharing and innovation, and celebrate global culinary traditions.
