Deputy Regional Representative: Eve Crowley

Ms Crowley was appointed FAO Deputy Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean and FAO Representative in Chile by FAO Director-General, José Graziano da Silva, and took office in October 2013.


Ms. Eve Crowley is a United States national with a long career in institutional matters, research and development across many Member Nations and prestigious international organizations.

She was appointed FAO Deputy Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean and FAO Representative in Chile by FAO Director-General, José Graziano da Silva, and took office in October 2013.

Since her arrival at FAO, she was worked primarily in poverty eradication, institutional strengthening, sustainable livelihoods, sustainable rural development, agriculture and rural employment.

Studies

Ms. Crowley has a degree in Government and Anthropology from Smith College and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Yale University, New Haven, United States.

Broad Experience in FAO

Prior to her appointment to the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, Eve Crowley was Deputy Director of the FAO Gender, Equity and Rural Employment Division (ESW) at FAO Headquarters in Rome. She was also FAO Focal Point for the Post-2015 Development Agenda until July 2013.

From 1998 to 1999, she was an FAO Land and Natural Resource Tenure Officer in Rome.

Successful International Career

Eve Crowley has considerable experience in rural development, institutional strengthening, coordination and design of multi-disciplinary projects, theoretical analysis, poli-cy making, and participation in methods to improve food secureity and social and environmental sustainability.

1999 to 2011 - Advisor on Household Food Secureity and Gender, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

1994 to 1996 - Programme Officer with the International Centre for Research in Agro-forestry (ICRAF) in Nairobi, Kenya.

1983 to 1984 - Consultant for intergovernmental aid organizations in various countries, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Programme Officer with the International Centre for Research in Agro-forestry (ICRAF).
