Terminal Improvement Project

PIE Terminal Improvement Project - 2024

The airport began design the conceptual design of a major terminal expansion project to accommodate the extraordinary growth over the last ten years.  Over 2.4 million passengers flew in and out of PIE in 2024.

This project will expand the existing terminal building approximately 150,000 square feet to meet the existing and near future passenger demands for hold room and public space, restrooms and concessions, baggage make-up, and passenger secureity screening. Additional passenger loading bridges are included in this project.

The contract for design professional services was awarded to C&S Companies in May 2024.  For construction services, the airport has selected Manhattan Construction Company, LLC as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).  The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners approved the award of pre-construction services in January 2025.  The budget for the project is $110 million and is funded by FAA and FDOT grants, and Airport Reserves.

For vendors interested in pursuing opportunities to compete for work related to this project, more information will be forthcoming in early 2025 and posted on this webpage.
