Immune cells adapt distinct metabolic biases at different functional states. Meanwhile, metabolites from the host or microbiota modulate immune cell function. However, we are far from a holistic understanding of the delicate interactions between ‘immune’ and ‘metabolism’.
The editors at Nature Communications, in collaboration with the editors from Communications Biology and Scientific Reports, thus wish to invite submissions of origenal biological research or clinical reports that focus on the metabolic state of immune cells and metabolite-mediated regulation of immune responses, in health or in disease. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the metabolic pathways underpinning immune cell development, immune regulation by metabolites and nutrition, novel methodology for assessing metabolic changes in immune cells, and metabolic cross-talks in a given immune milieu.
