Vicky Krikelas
Background
Vicky joined the NWFSC's Communications Program as the Outreach Coordinator in 2005 and has been working at the Center since 2003. Prior to working at the Center, she worked as an associate with Impact Sciences environmental consulting firm, watershed coordinator for the Sierra Nevada Alliance, volunteer coordinator for the CALPIRG Los Angeles Chapter, and science instructor for an outdoor science school. She was also a Fellow with the Sustainable Communities Leadership Program for a watershed planning organization in Lake Tahoe, CA and currently serves as a mentor for the UCLA Alumni Mentor Program. Vicky has a Master's degree in Environmental Science and Management (UC Santa Barbara, 2002) with a specialization in water resources management, and a B.S. in Biology (UCLA, 1996).
Current Responsibilities
Vicky is the outreach coordinator, web content writer/editor, and social media manager for the Center. Her areas of responsibility include public relations, media requests, website content development and management, press releases, outreach publications, writing/editing, partnerships with museums and aquaria, outreach grants, special event planning, and public exhibits. Vicky also helps coordinate the biennial NWFSC Science Symposium and serves on the NOAA Fisheries Web Council.
